emergency response
All artwork is susceptible to damage from threats like fire, water, pests, and mold, or accidents during storage and transportation. Untreated, damage and deterioration can lead to long term issues that affect the aesthetic, historic, and financial value of the work. Preservation Arts is committed to preserving artworks or collections in the event of an emergency, and has experience treating major collections after human error and natural disasters, including the 2017 Santa Rosa fires.
In the event of an emergency, such as a fire, flood, infestation, natural disaster, or shipping accident, contact Preservation Arts immediately to assess the condition of the damaged artwork or collection. The collections team and conservators will propose a plan of action to treat the damaged artwork. In addition to conservation of damaged works, emergency services include documentation, supporting insurance claims, triage of damaged artworks, packing and transportation, storage, risk management, and preventative strategy.
